Death Calls 100-Yr.-Old Woman and Daughter

Lancaster, Pa. — Mrs. Henry F. Garber of Mt. Joy, wife of a well-known bishop in the Lancaster Conference, died recently only eight days after the passing of her 100-year-old mother, Mrs. Frances B. Nissley.

Bishop Garber is a long-time member and former president of the Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions, of which he is now an Honorary Member. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. John Leatherman and Mrs. Clarence (Lois) Keener of Mt. Joy, and a son Robert Garber, missionary in Ethiopia.

Mrs. Nissley, widow of Amos R. Nissley and oldest member of the Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Keener. The home is a 137-year-old stone house where she moved in 1884 as a bride of one year. She leaves a son, Charles of New Jersey, eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
