MRS. SARAH GARBER

Sarah (Kuhns) Garber, daughter of Samuel and Magdalene Kuhns, was born in LaGrange County, Ind., on Dec. 27, 1886 [sic 1866], and departed this life Sept. 20, 1955 in Harper, Kansas, 88 years, eight months and 24 days.

On Nov. 6, 1884, in McPherson County, Kansas she was united in marriage to Christian C. Garber. To this union were born ten children, Maggie Matilda, deceased, Sam of Harper, Mrs. Rebecca Hilliard of Copeland, Kansas, Nettie, Mrs. Elias Miller of LaJunta, Colo., Abraham F. of Muskegon Heights, Mich., Ervin of Argonia, Monroe, deceased, Earl of Almeda [sic Alameda], Calif., Lulu, Mrs. Henry Bear, of Harper, Mrs. Charlotte Bear, deceased.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1933. Three children, three sisters and one brother also preceded her passing.

In 1885 she with her husband united with the West Liberty Mennonite Church in McPherson County, living a faithful Christian life until her passing.

Her favorite song, “Blessed Assurance,” was sung for her often during her last years, and this song has left a ringing testimony to those left behind that her eternal hope was built on Christ Jesus.

She is survived by the immediate family, including a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also a host of relatives and friends.

Her passing will never be forgotten by those who knew her best.

The memorial services was conducted at the Pleasant Valley church near Harper by Waldo E. Miller and Wilbert E. Nafziger, and music was under the direction of Mrs. O. J. Yoder. Burial was made in the Pleasant Valley cemetery, with R. M. Weaver in charge of the committal service.
