PROMINENT COMMUNITY LEADER AT METAMORA CALLED AWAY IN DEATH

Metamora, Ill. — Funeral services for Joseph E. Garber, 78, for many years a prominent business man and church leader in this community, were held at Calvary Mennonite church, Washington, on Monday, April 20.

Mr. Garber died at the Mennonite Hospital in Bloomington after having been a patient there one week.

He was secretary of the South Mennonite church near Washington for 25 years; served as secretary of the Mennonite Hospital Board for many years and had helped organize the Cooper Station Elevator Co. and other well-known firms in this area. For a time he also was vice-president of the Delavan Mutual Insurance Co.
