— Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Anna Marie Galle, 88, which occurred May 22 at Kingsburg, Calif. A former resident of Moundridge, Mrs. Galle had lived in the Reedley community since 1912. Her husband, John Galle, died in 1942. Among the survivors is a brother, Henry E. Haury of Newton. Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite church of Reedley.

MRS. ANNA MARIE GALLE

Mrs. Anna Marie (Haury) Galle of Reedley, Calif., daughter of J. A. and Maria (Schmidt) Haury, was born in Franklin Lee County, Iowa, Nov. 27, 1868. She departed from this life at Haley"s Haven, Kingsburg, Calif. on May 22, 1957, at 8:00 p. m. to be with her blessed Lord. She attained the age of 88 and one-half years.

As a young girl she moved with her parents to Moundridge, Kansas. Here she continued her elementary schooling. It was at this time that she also accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour and was baptized upon this confession and received into the First Mennonite church of Christian, Moundridge.

On Feb. 11, 1891 she entered holy wedlock with John W. Galle at the hands of the Rev. Wm. Galle. to this union were born nine children. The oldest, Elda, preceded the parents in death in 1920.

In 1912 the family moved to Reedley, Calif. and took up ranching for their livlihood [sic]. They joined the First Mennonite Church of Reedley and were faithful members to their death. this marriage of 1 yeas came to an end when the husband, John Galle, passed away Sept. 9, 1942. Since that time Mrs. Galle made her home with her daughter Lelia, Mrs. Arthur Ruth.

Mrs. Galle was regular in church attendance, active in the Women's Missionary Society and is remembered for her unselfishness by the family and community. Her favorite portion of Scripture was Matthew 6:25-34.

She leaves to cherish her memory eight children, Hugo of Woodlake, Calif.; Mary, Mrs. E. J. Fawcett of Alhambra, Calif.; Reuben of Huron, Calif.; Esther, Mrs. Esther Bondurant, Orosi, Calif.; Bertha of Dinuba, Calif.; Alpha of Reedley; Lelia, Mrs. Arthur Ruth, Reedley; and Dorothy, Mrs. Harlan Mohn, Reedley. Also surviving are one sister, Mary of Reedley, and two brothers, Henry of Newton, Kansas and Albert of Woodlake, Calif. and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church of Reedley, Rev. Reuben Galle, pastor of the Baptist church at Huron, Calif. and a son of the deceased, read Matth. 6:25-34. Rev. Aaron Epp used John 14 in speaking on "Life After Death." Soloists were Roy Reimer and Nancy Bondurant, with Mrs. Arthur Krehbiel at the organ. Burial was made in the Reedley cemetery.
