KANSAS PIONEER PASSED AWAY

Inman, Kans.--An early Mennonite pioneer of the East Spring Valley community, Abe Funk, died at the home for the aged here on Tuesday, March 30, at the age of 77.

The body was sent to Inola, Okla., and funeral services were conducted at the Mennonite church of that place. Mr. Funk moved from Kansas to Oklahoma, and made his home there for many years.

Surviving relatives include one daughter and three sons.

ABRAHAM FUNK

Abraham Funk was born in Russia on April 1, 1870, and died Tuesday morning, March 30, 1948, at 4:00 o'clock at the home for the aged at Inman, Kansas. Had he lived another day he would have reached the age of 78 years.

He came to America at the age of eight. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith in early manhood by Rev. Buller.

He was joined in holy wedlock with Anna (Buller) Schroeder January 19, 1898. To this union six children were born. His wife, a son, Gustav, and one half-brother preceded him in death.

Left to mourn his departure are four sons, one daughter, and one step-daughter: John of Chotou [sic Chouteau], Okla., Otto and Waldo of Inola, Mrs. A. G. (Elizabeth) Hiebert and Arnold of Los Angeles, Calif., and Sara Schroeder Janzen of Medford, Okla. Other survivors include four daughters-in-law, three sons-in-law, 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one half-brother, one half-sister, and many friends and relatives.

Burial was made in the Eden cemetery at Inola., Bro. G. B. Regier officiating.
