EDGAR MARTIN FRUEH

Edgar Martin Frueh, son of George and Ida Magerkurth Frueh, was born on March 11, 1909, on a farm near Donnellson, Iowa. About two weeks ago he became seriously ill and was taken to the Graham hospital at Keokuk, Iowa, where a few days later an operation was performed for the removal of his gall bladder. On Wednesday morning February 9, 1950, at 4:40 he passed away at the age of 40 years, 10 months and 28 days.

On August 15, 1926, he was confirmed by Rev. Stoerker and received into the fellowship of the St. Pauls Evangelical-Reformed church. On March 3, 1946, he transferred his membership to the Zion Mennonite church.

On June 12, 1939, he was united in marriage with Myrtle Gack. This union was blessed with a son, Eldon Edgar. On April 29, 1945, his wife passed away. On February 3, 1946, he was joined in the bond of holy matrimony with Edith Krebill by Rev. H. E. Nunemaker. Two sons, George Edwin and David Wayne, were born to this union.

His father preceded him in death on February 11, 1946. He leaves to mourn his departure his deeply bereaved wife, three sons, his mother, five brothers, Harold, LeRoy, Ralph and Charles, all from the neighborhood of Donnellson and Herbert from Chicago, Ill., one sister, Leona, who is at home with her mother at Donnellson. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services, which were very largely attended, were held at the Zion Mennonite church on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. A brief service had been held at the Agnew funeral home at 1:30. The pastor of the church, Rev. Elmer Basinger, had charge, assisted by Rev. J. Sherrill Gohde, pastor of the Evangelical-Reformed church.

The young men's quartet composed of Donald Lowenberg, Richard Krebill, Rudy Krehbiel, and David Gaylaord [sic Gaylord], sang the hymns, “That Beautiful Land" and “Abide With Me" The pallbearers were Leonard Fett, Sherman Miner, Loren Myers, Charles Hammer, Ed J. Fahms, and Russell Wolfe. Interment was made in the Evangelical cemetery.
