Birth date: 1860 Oct 31
text of obituary:
MRS. SARA FROESE
Mrs. Sara Kliewer Froese, daughter of Rev. Gerhard G. Kliewer and Katharina Becker, was born on October 31, 1860, at Alexanderwohl, South Russia. She came to America with her parents when she was 15 years old and settled east of Inman, Kansas,
Upon the confession of her sins and her faith in the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior from sin, she was baptized on December 15, 1878, by Elder Dietrich Gaeddert and received into the Hoffnungsau church. Later when the Inman Mennonite church was started, she became a charter member and remained faithful to the end.
On February 26, 1880, she was united in holy wedlock with Jacob Froese, which marriage was blessed with 12 children. The parents moved to Inman in 1918 due to the ill health of the father. On June 9, 1928, this happy union of 48 years was broken upon his death.
After that she remained in Inman until her death. She always enjoyed good health until the last three months, when it became necessary to be with her more; however, she cared for herself until the last two weeks. She was finally taken to the hospital at Goessel where she died of cancer and passed on to her great reward on July 27, 1949, having reached the ripe age of 88 years, eight months and 26 days. She always worked hard, and cared well for her family. She knew her Bible and loved to sing.
Her husband, three daughters, 2 infants and Katharina, Mrs. Otto Balzer, two sons, George and Bernhard, and one grandchild preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn six sons, Jacob of Buhler, Henry of Hydro, Okla., Cornelius and John of Inman, Herman of Hutchinson and Gus of Henderson, Colo.; one daughter, Maria, Mrs. H. H. Abrahams of Inman; six daughters-in-law and two sons-in-law; one sister, Mrs. J. B. Reimer of Goessel, and one brother, George of Hillsboro; one half sister, Mrs. Henry Ratzlaff of Newton; and six half-brothers, Peter of Lakin, Jacob of Enid, Okla., Frank of Newport, Washington, David of Clinton, Okla., Cornelius of Frazer, Mont., and Ben of Salem, Ore.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Justina Froese, Clinton, Okla., and Mrs. Henry Kliewer of Shelly, Okla.; 28 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and a host of friends and relatives.
Mother has gone on to her reward. We shall miss her much, but we have the hope that some day we too shall be with her in glory. — The bereaved family.
