MRS. KATHARINE FROESE

Mrs. Katharine Froese, 70, a resident of the Medford, Okla. community for many years, died Friday afternoon, May 25, at an Enid hospital after an extended period of failing health. She had made her home at Enid since leaving Medford in 1949.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p. m. at Grace Mennonite church in Enid. Rev. Albert Unruh and Rev. William Unrau officiated. Burial was made in the Medford Mennonite cemetery.

Mrs. Froese was born in Russia and came to the United States when two years of age.

She resided at Newton, Kans., until moving with her parents to Hydro, Okla., in 1903. She was married to C. C. Froese in 1909.

The couple moved to a farm northeast of Medford where they resided for more than 30 years, later establishing a home in Medford.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Everett Lacy of Corbin, Kans., and Mrs. Ivan Haworth and Mrs. Clifford Watts, both of Enid; two sons, Pete Froese of Nardin and Harry Froese of Tulsa; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Wedel and Mrs. B. A. Hinz, both of Reedley, Calif., and Mrs. Pete Dalke of Manitoba, Canada; one brother, Jake Nachtigall [sic Nachitgal] of Newton, Kans., and 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

KATHARINA FROESE

Katharina Nachtigal Froese, daughter of Peter and Anna von Riesen Nachtigall [sic Nachtigal], was born December 29, 1885 in Asia and departed this life on May 25, 1956 at the age of 70 years, four months and 27 days. When about two years of age she came to the United States with her parents, who settled in the Newton, Kansas community.

On June 1, 1903 she was baptized upon confession of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior by Rev. Gustav Harder and received into the membership of Emmaus Mennonite church at Whitewater, Kansas. In 1903 the family moved to Hydro, Oklahoma and joined the Bethel church at Hydro.

On February 25, 1909 she was united in marriage with Cornelius C. Froese, at which time she transferred her membership to the Mennonite church of Medford. Five children were born to this union. In 1934 the parents were privileged to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The family lived in Medford till April 1949, at which time they moved to Enid, Oklahoma. Shortly thereafter she transferred her membership to the Grace Mennonite church in Enid.

Mother has been in ill health the past year. Through all her suffering she was uncomplaining, trusting in her Lord to give her the strength to bear her lot. To this last she was sustained by an implicit faith in her maker, who had been her companion and friend through the joys and sorrows of life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius C. Froese, one brother and three sisters. She leaves to mourn her departure two sons, Pete Froese, Nardin, Okla., Harry Froese, Tulsa; three daughters, Mrs. Everett Lacey, Corbin Kansas, Mrs. Iwan Haworth and Mrs. Clifford Watts, both of Enid; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Jake Nachtigall [sic Nachtigal], Newton, Kansas, three sisters, Mrs. B. A. Hinz and Mrs. Margaret Wedel, both of Reedley, Calif., Mrs. P. C. Dalke, Manitoba, Canada.

Funeral services were held in the Grace Mennonite church, Enid, Okla., May 28, at 2:30 p. m., with Rev. Albert J. Unruh in charge.
