• Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Buhler Mennonite Church for Jacob K. Froese, 84, who died at the Evergreen Manor rest home in Hutchinson after a short illness. Rev. Harold Thieszern officiated. Born Dec. 10, 1880 near Inman, Mr. Froese had lived at Buhler 21 years and had been in the rest home one week. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; two sons and two daughters; one brother and one sister; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

JACOB K. FROESE

Jacob K. Froese was born on Dec. 10, 1880 at Inman, Kan. He was the first of 12 children born to Jacob and Sara Kliewer Froese. He grew to manhood at Inman, Kan.

Upon his confession of faith he was baptized by Rev. Peter Balzer on June 16, 1901, and became a member of the Hoffnungsau Church. On Sept. 3, 1903 he married Elisabeth Voth. To this union were born three sons and four daughters.

His wife Elisabeth passed away in July of 1928. He then married Pauline Friesen on Dec. 28, 1930, at the Buhler Mennonite church. In April of 1962 the two youngest daughters, Martha Claassen and Connie Moore, lost their lives in an airplane accident. In July of the same years his oldest son Walter passed away after a short illness.

When they established their residence in Hutchinson, he took his membership to the First Mennonite Church, where he served as deacon a number of years and also enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Bible class for many years. After establishing their home in Buhler he became a member of the Buhler Mennonite Church in 1946.

About three years ago his health began to fail. In November of 1963 he suffered a stroke after which he was left helpless. On June 19 of 1965 he entered the Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson. On June 25 early in the morning he became critically ill with pneumonia and passed away at 1:50 the came day at the age of 84 years, six months and 15 days.

He leaves to mourn his death his widow, Pauline, with whom he shared life's joys and sorrows for 34 years and six months; two daughters, Frieda and her husband Otto Regier of Buhler, and Mrs. Sarah Dahlman of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Albert and his wife Leona of Wichita and Edward and his wife Betty of Hutchinson; one daughter-in-law, Ruth Froese, of Hutchinson; a son-in-law, Carl Claassen, and his wife Terry of Woodland, Calif. and a son-in-law George Moore and his wife Dorothy of Richland, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Marie Abrahams of Inman, and one brother, Herman of Burrton, Kan.

The burial was made at the Buhler Cemetery.
