Jacob Froese

Jacob Froese was born April 27, 1850, at Landskron, South Russia.

He was baptized in the year of 1869 and united with the Mennonite Church.

In 1875 he came to America and here he made his home on a farm 1½ miles east of Inman, Kansas, where he has lived the remainder of his life with the exception of 16 years in town.

On the 26th of Feb. 1880, he was united in marriage with Sara Kliewer. This union was blessed with 12 children, 8 boys and 4 girls. One boy and two girls passed before their father to the eternal home.

He and his wife united with the Hoffnungsau Church and when the Inman Mennonite Church was organized they became members of the same and he has remained a faithful member of the same to the end.

He has been ill a great deal in his life but the Lord has spared his days, so that he has reached an old age. His illness increased especially since the first of March and since this time he has suffered a great deal so that the question came to him, Lord, why and how long? God will answer those questions to his satisfaction.

He leaves to mourn his wife, 7 sons and 2 daughters, 22 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 1 brother and many friends.

He died on June 9, about 2:30 P. M. at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 12 days.

He could say with Job: "I know that my redeemer liveth."

Funeral services were held at the Hoffnungsau Church Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Ratzlaff spoke at the house and also made the opening remarks at the church. Rev. D. C. Ewert officiated and Rev. A. J. Dyck assisted. Two male quartettes rendered the musical selections. The remains were laid to rest in the Hoffnungsau cemetery. — Inman Review.
