CORNELIUS C. FROESE

Cornelius C. Froese, son of Cornelius C. and Margaret Froese (nee Kliewer), was born in McPherson Co., Kansas Feb. 3, 1882. At the age of 17 he came to Medford, Okla. with his parents, where the family home was established.

At the age of 19, upon confession of faith in his Lord and Master, he was baptized on Sept 8, 1901, in the Medford Mennonite church by Rev. Peter Balzer and was taken into the membership of the church. He maintained this membership through the last days of his life.

On Feb. 25, 1909, he was united in marriage with Catherina Nachtigall. Five children were born to this union. In 1934 they were privileged to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The family lived in Medford until April 1949, at which time they moved to Enid, Okla.

Our father had been in ill health the past four years, having suffered many and painful Illnesses. For the last six weeks he was confined to bed. He passed on to his reward on March 9, 1950, at 4:10 a. m., having attained the age of 68 years, one month and six days.

Through all his suffering he was uncomplaining, trusting in his Lord to give him the strength to bear his lot. To the last he was sustained by an Implicit faith in his Maker who had been his companion and friend through the joys and sorrows of life.

He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife, Catherina Froese; two sons, Pete Froese of Nardin, Okla., Harry Froese of Enid, Okla., three daughters, Mrs. Everett Lacey of Corbin, Kansas, Selma Froese and Mrs. Edna Thomas of Enid, Okla.; and ten grandchildren, one brother, Henry Froese of Shafter, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. George Gaede of Paso Robles, Calif.; three half-brothers, P. M. Reimer and J. M. Reimer of Medford, Okla. and John Reimer of Shafter, Calif., as well as a host of relatives and friends. His father and mother, two sisters and one half-brother preceded him in death.

We mourn not as if we had lost our beloved husband and father forever. He has only preceded us and is with the Lord and sooner or later we too shall follow —The bereaved family.
