BERNHARD F. FROESE

Bernhard, son of Jacob and Magdalene (Jantzen) Froese, was born Jan 27, 1914, near Vinita, Okla.

In the fall of 1917 the family moved to Inola, Okla. In 1930 after catechism instruction with eight other young people he was baptized upon confession of his faith by Rev. H. T. Neufeld and joined the Eden Mennonite church, of which he was a faithful member until his death.

He attended the Inola schools and was also a student at Tulsa University for four and one-half years.

On July 19, 1942, he was united in holy wedlock with his now bereaved wife, Alice Loewen of Inola Rev. Sol Moutett officiating.

He was employed by Southern Mills of Tulsa for years, and in 1948 took up teaching in Inola. He also drove the school bus and was coach of the girls’ basketball team. Friday night at Chelsea, after the girls’ game was over, and while visiting with a friend, death came suddenly of heart failure, caused by a blood clot entering his heart.

He died at the age of 40 years, 11 months and 11 days.

He leaves to mourn his early departure his wife, four children, Bernadine 11, Lloyd 8, Alice Ann 5, and Alma Ruth, 16 months; his parents, Jacob and Magdalene Froese; four brothers and two sisters, Jake of Inola, Frieda (Mrs. Henry Jantzen) of Clinton, Ralf [sic Ralph] of Inola, Art of Inola, Louis of Claremore, and Katherine (Mrs. Guy Page) of Houston, Texas; his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Loewen of Inola; nine sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law; and many relatives and friends.
