ANNA KROEKER FRIESEN

Anna Kroeker Friesen was born on Oct. 11, 1883, at Henderson, Neb. Her parents were Rev. and Mrs. Bernhard Kroeker. She spent her earlier years near Henderson, then a few years in Texas, where she lost her mother in the storm of 1900. In 1907 she moved to Nebraska with her parents.

In her youth, she accepted Christ as her Saviour, was baptized on her confession of faith and joined the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church.

On Jan. 28, 1909, she was married in Litchfield to Peter E. Friesen of Jansen, Neb. by Elder John Epp. In 1910 they moved to Jansen where they resided most of their married years. From 1911 to 1914 they attended the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago. In 1959 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

To their union were born six children, Aganetha of the Congo, Marie of Wheaton, Ill., Bernhard, who passed away in 1947, Abraham of McPherson, Kan., and Lena and Sara of Jansen, Neb. Mother is survived by her husband, four daughters, one son, two daughter-in-laws, and seven grandchildren. She spent her last two and one-half months in the Beatrice Hospital as an invalid. She was suddenly taken Home on May 16, at 8:10 p.m.

Preceding her in death are her parents and step-mother; four brothers, John, Cornelius, Bernhard, and Henry; and four sisters, Justina, Elizabeth, Marie, and Katherine. Two sisters, Helena, Mrs. Peter J. Fast of Dallas, Oregon, and Sarah, Mrs. Oscar Anderson of Upsala [sic Uppsala], Sweden, and two half-brothers, Peter and Martin Kroeker of Dallas, Oregon, survive. One of her favorite passages of Scripture was Psalm 23, which she often quoted during her last days. Therefore, we “sorrow not as others who have no hope.” — Bereaved Family.
