Services at Steinbach For Victim of Fire In British Columbia

Steinbach, Man. — Funeral services were held at the Steinbach EMB Church on Aug. 22 for Allan J. Friesen, 27, who lost his life when trapped in a burning house in Vancouver, B. C. on Aug. 18. Rev. J. N. Hiebert officiated.

According to reports of the tragedy received here, Mr. Friesen and three other men were sleeping in upstairs bedrooms when flames raced through the frame house before dawn. Jim Schellenberg, 30, and Jacob Kroeker, 28, both formerly of Steinbach, and a third man jumped out of the burning house through second floor windows. Schellenberg suffered a back injury and Kroeker a broken ankle.
