Peter P. Friesen

Peter P. Friesen of Hepburn, Sask. passed away Feb. 27. He was born Aug. 19, 1897 to Peter J. and Maria Friesen in Henderson, NB. When he was 3 the family immigrated to Mennon, Sask., later moving to Hepburn. He accepted the Lord at an early age and rededicated his life at 17. He was baptized by his father in 1914 and accepted into Hepburn MB Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher, treasurer, secretary and deacon. He worked as a store clerk. In 1919 he purchased land, which he farmed for 44 years. On Dec. 10, 1922 he married Agatha Doerksen. He loved music, participating in band and violin ensembles. He enjoyed gardening, tending the flowers and shrubs around the home and church properties. Agatha passed away in 1984. He moved to Mennonite Nursing Home near Rosthern and in April, 1989 to Spruce Manor Care Home in Dalmeny, Sask. He is remembered for his Christian example, his practice of the work ethic and his concern for his family's spiritual welfare. Predeceased by his wife, 4 sisters and 7 brothers, he is mourned by his children, Mildred Stickwood of Sharon, Ont., Wilbert of Waldheim, Sask., Ernest of Waldheim, Mary of Hepburn, Alvin of Calgary, Art of Saskatoon and Verna Heinrichs of Manitou, Man.; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 sister and 2 brothers. The funeral was Mar. 2 in Hepburn MB Church, with R.M. Baerg and H.M. Willems ministering.
