Nettie Friesen

Nettie Frisen of Saskatoon passed away Jan. 18. She was born Sept. 7, 1896 to Jacob and Nettie Boese in Parker, SD. In the early 1900s the family homesteaded near Hepburn, Sask. She placed her faith in Christ as a teenager and was baptized July 5, 1914, joining Hepburn MB Church. She married Henry G. Friesen Dec. 19, 1918. For 19 years they served as telephone operator and lineman for the Hepburn, Mennon and Langham communities. In 1943 they moved to Saskatoon, joining Saskatoon MB Church. The service they both enjoyed was a quiet, behind-the scenes ministry. Henry died suddenly in 1970. In 1985 she moved to Central Haven Special Care Home. She is remembered as a devoted mother, loyal friend and sincere Christian. She is mourned by her daughters Hazel Hardy of Livelong, Sask. and Myrtle Wipf of Saskatoon; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister and 1 brother. The funeral was Jan. 20 in Central MB Church, Saskatoon, with Arnie Fehderau and Harry Schmidt ministering.
