Former Henderson, Neb. Youth Killed
Henderson. Neb. — Laverne Friesen, a product of this community who was employed as a radio announcer at Montrose, Colo., lost his life recently in an auto accident in that state. His companion in the car was also killed.
Reports of the tragedy stated that their car crashed down a hundred foot embankment and caught on a ledge, where it hung when they were found. While workmen tried to rescue them by means of cables, the car with both men in it dropped another 80 feet into the water and the bodies were finally recovered by means of grappling hooks.
Lavern’s [sic] body was returned here by ambulance, and funeral services were held in Bethesda church. Rev. A. W. Friesen spoke comforting words to the bereaved, and burial was made in the cemetery west of town.
