MRS. GERHARD J. FRIESEN

Katharina Friesen, daughter of Dietrich and Maria Huebert Friesen, as born on Jan. 31, 1888 on a farm northwest of Henderson in Hamilton County, Nebraska. She resided in Hamilton and York counties all her life. She attained the age of 89.

She was baptized and received into the Bethesda Mennonite Church on June 8, 1908, remaining a faithful member until her death.

On March 11, 1909 she was married to Gerhard J. Friesen. They were permitted to share the joys and sorrows for 40 years, father being called to his eternal home on March 22, 1949. this union was blessed with eight children, two of whom preceded her in death.

Mother attended school in Hamilton County. She was a faithful homemaker and a loving mother. For years she was an active member of Circle I.

In 1949 she moved to Henderson where she enjoyed her flower garden, neighbors and activities of the church. When her health failed she entered the Henderson Nursing Home on Feb. 13, 1965. She was a resident there for 12 years. Although hospitalized often and in ill health, she seldom complained. on Dec. 24, 1976 she suffered a stroke and was admitted to the Henderson Community Hospital where she died on Feb. 6, 1977.

She leaves to mourn her passing four sons and two daughters, Irwin M. of North Newton, Kan., Wendell J. of Aurora, Neb., Mildred, Mrs. C. C. Koop, Allen M., and Amy, Mrs. Roland Friesen, all of Henderson, and Dennis J. of Omaha, Neb.; three sons-in-law, four daughters-in-law, 24 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Norman, in infancy; one daughter, Lillie, Mrs. R. J. Peters, in 1965; one great-grandson, one sister and four brothers. — The Family.
