JACOB DIETRICH FRIESEN
Jacob Dietrich Friesen of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Nov. 1. He was born Jan. 6, 1913 to Dietrich and Aganetha Friesen in Ekaterinoslav, southern Russia. When he was 4, his mother was murdered before his eyes. The family moved to Miloradovka, where his father married Anna Unger. In 1923 the family immigrated to Acme, Alta. They moved to Provost, Alta. in 1925 and then to Glenbush, Sask. In 1931 he enrolled in Bethany Bible Institute. In first year he accepted the Lord. The Word of God became very meaningful and precious. In 1936 he married Katie Epp. After a year of farming, they moved to B.C. After World War II, he finished high school, graduated from MB Bible College, studied 1 year at Tabor College and graduated from University of Manitoba. He taught school 17 years, then went into business. During his student years in Winnipeg, he did tent mission work in Manitoba. He taught Sunday school, also serving as superintendent, in North End, Elmwood, North Kildonan and Fort Garry MB Churches in Winnipeg. He retired to Clearbrook in October, 1979. He joined Bakerview MB Church, serving some years in the diaconate. He cherished the "grace of God" throughout his life. He is mourned by his wife; children James of Kitchener, Ont., Robert of Winnipeg, Dorothy of Chicago, IL and Thomas of Santa Rosa, CA; his mother Anna of Worthington Pavilion; 3 grandchildren; 1 sister and 4 brothers. The funeral was Nov. 6 in Bakerview MB Church, with Harry Heidebrecht, Henry Thiessen and Jacob Quiring ministering.
