JACOB FRIESEN
Jacob C. Friesen was born August 5, 1886 in Schoenfeld, Russia. On August 19, 1918, after accepting Christ as his personal Saviour and giving open testimony to that fact, he was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church. In the same year he was united to Mary Friesen with whom he spent 46 years of wedded life, God blessing them with six children including one adopted child. In 1926 the family left Russia arriving at Winkler, Manitoba a short time later. In 1929 they moved on to Coaldale where brother Friesen was in business for 15 years. In 1945 they again moved, this time to Chilliwack, B.C.,where he spent the last 20 years of his life. He enjoyed good health and continued in business in Chilliwack all these years.
Jacob Friesen died February 19, one day after being struck by a truck while he was crossing a highway with his wife. He entered eternity with the assurance that he would be with the Lord. The funeral was in the Chilliwack Broadway Church with Rev. Henry Warkentin ministering. He is survived by two sons, Walter and John; four daughters, Lena (Mrs. Peter Martens), Lydia, Erna (Mrs. John Hamm), and Agnes (Mrs. James Neufeld); and 16 grandchildren.
