— Rev. Isaac I. Friesen, 42, died Sunday night, Feb. 26, at his home southwest of Inman, Kansas, after a prolonged illness. Funeral services were to be held at the Zoar church, of which church he was a member. Rev. Friesen is survived by his widow, seven children, and his parents.

Isaak I. Friesen

Isaak I. Friesen was born west of Inman, Kansas, June 21, 1885.

In 1903, his eighteenth year, he was converted, baptized by Rev. John Esau and accepted as a member of the Zoar congregation. He remained a faithful member until his death.

He was married to Helena Thiessen March 10, 1909. Seven children blessed this union, 3 sons and 4 daughters; all are still living.

He was called to the ministry in 1912 and was ordained in 1917. He served in this capacity until a year ago when the state of his health made it impossible for him to continue. He was teacher of the men's Sunday School class for seven years.

On June 20, 1927, he was taken to the Bethel Hospital at Newton, where the physicians pronounced his disease to be dropsy. Pneumonia set in and his condition became serious. A prayer meeting on his behalf was held at our home on July 13. Our prayers were answered for the following morning a decided change for the better was noticed and his condition grew so much better that he was brought home on Aug. 17. He continued to improve for a time but early in November his condition again became serious and he requested that a service be held at which he might be treated according to the scripture as found in James 5:14. This wish was granted and although he did not recover he derived much comfort from the service. He spent much time in prayer the burden of which was that the Lord's will, not his own be done.

His condition grew worse and on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 9:30 P> M. death relieved him of his suffering.

Funeral services were conducted at the Zoar Church, Friday. Rev. P. R. Jost of Hillsboro made a short talk at the house. Rev. John Esau officiated and was assisted by Rev. C. Thiessen, Prof. P. F. Wall of Tabor College, Rev. H. Adrian of Buhler, Rev. P. H. Block spoke at the cemetery. The Zoar choir rendered a number of beautiful selections during the services. The Sunday School class of the deceased also rendered a number of fine selections. The remains were laid to rest in the Zoar cemetery. — Inman Review.
