— Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Rempel and Mr. and Mrs. Ike L. Friesen of Meade were overnight guests at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Martin Classen in Burns, Wednesday, Oct. 31. They were returning from an extended trip through the East, having gone as far as New York City, and again left for Meade on Thursday morning. Thursday evening the Rev. Classens received the tragic news that Mr. Friesen had died of a heart attack at 5:00 p. m. Only 34 years old, he appeared in good health and had thoroughly enjoyed the trip. His deeply bereaved wife and a small daughter survive. Rev. Classens attended the funeral, which was held at the Emmanuel church at Meade Monday afternoon.

ISAAC L. FRIESEN

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Emmanuel Mennonite church, Meade, Kans., for Isaac L. Friesen. Mr. Friesen suffered a heart attack and died immediately on Nov. 1. He was driving cattle across the road at the five mile corner south of Meade when he suffered the attack and was dead upon reaching the hospital.

Rev. H. P. Wiebe, Rev. Rahn of Inman, and Rev. Andrew Classen held the service. Pall-bearers were Pete M. and Menno Friesen, Herman F. and Willie F. Rempel, Raymond R. and Alvin Friesen.

Interment was in the Emmanuel church cemetery with Fidler Mortuary in charge.

The following obituary was read the service.

Isaac L. Friesen, my dear husband, was born April 24, 1917, at Meade county, Meade, Kansas. He departed to be with the Lord November 1, 1951. He reached the age of 34 years, six months and seven days.

He grew to manhood in this community. The time came when he saw his lost condition and by the grace of God accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Upon confession of faith he was baptized on June 21, 1936, by Elder Jacob F. Isaac and was accepted into the Mennonite Church.

On July 28, 1940, he was united to Katherine Wiens in Holy Matrimony. To this union three children were born — Lois Kae, 12 months, two sons, Lloyd Wendell and Clyde Wesley, who both died in infancy. We have shared joys and sorrows for 11 years, three months and four days.

He was an ever willing worker in the church and community. He took an active part in Sunday school, of which he was treasurer for many years.

In the last years he was afflicted with a heart ailment. A few weeks ago we, together with Bro. and Sister George J. Rempel, took a trip to the eastern states where we visited friends and relatives. He enjoyed this very much. We arrived home Nov. 1 at 3:30 p.m.

As soon as we arrived home he prepared to do chores. While he was driving some cattle he suffered a stroke or heart attack and passed away instantly at 5:00 p.m.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, one daughter, Lois Kae, his mother, Mrs. A. H. Friesen; one brother, Henry L. Friesen; Margaret, Mrs. Henry A. Friesen; Marie, Mrs. G. J. Rempel; Helen at home; Katherine, Mrs. Abe Z. Friesen; Agnes, Mrs. Henry Z. Friesen; and many relatives and friends. His father, Abr. H. Friesen, and two brothers, Pete and John preceded him in death.

We have enjoyed our fellowship together, yet for such a short time. But the Lord knows and His ways are best. Even though we cannot see now, some day we shall understand. He has gone to that great beyond to rest in peace and joy with his Saviour.

“Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterwards receive me to Glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
