text of obituary:
Two accidents deeply saddened the Corn, Okla., community during the past week. Irvin Friesen, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Friesen of near Weatherford, was drowned Friday night, June 18, in the government pool at Corn. On Wednesday, June 23, Mrs. D. D. Regier of Kipp, Kansas, was killed there in an automobile accident.
Funeral services for Mr. Friesen were held at the Corn M. B. church, conducted by Rev. H. D. Wiebe and Rev. J. J. Wiebe.
Regarding the accident in which Mrs. Regier was killed the Washita Co. Enterprise of Corn gives the following report:
Mrs. d. D. Regier of Kipp, Kansas, at present here on a visit, was killed in a car accident four miles south of Carnegie Wednesday morning, at about ten o'clock. Figuring in the same accident with Mrs. Regier was her sister, Mrs. Dick Janz and son, and their mother, Mrs. F. F. Toews. Mrs. Janz was only slightly injured, her son escaping injuries entirely. Mrs. Toews was injured severely, and is at present at a hospital at Chickaha [sic Chickasha].
The parties were on their way to Elgin, Oklahoma, where they intended to visit Mrs. P. A. Becker, a daughter to Mrs. Toews, when the accident occurred.
It was reported that the fatal car, driven by Mrs. Janz, had met another car with trailer near an intersection. The car and trailer were driven onto the road seemingly taking up too much room, and in order not to hit the oncoming vehicle, Mrs. Janz swerved her car off the pavement. This act caused her to lose control of the car which toppled off the twenty foot embankment. Mrs. Regier was the only person thrown out of the car. The parties were rushed to a Carnegie Hospital where Mrs. Regier died immediately.
Funeral services will most likely be held at Hillsboro, Kansas next Sunday.
