Custom Combine Operator Dies at Scott City, Kan.

Mt. Lake, Minn. — Funeral services were conducted at the Bethel Mennonite Church here Sunday for Henry A. Friesen, 58, custom combine operator who died in the Scott City, Kan. hospital on June 20.

Mr. Friesen left here May 21 to begin harvest operations at Snyder, Okla. and his last job before illness overtook him was at Pratt, Kan. He had done custom cutting for 12 years, but had suffered from a heart condition for several years.

Surviving are his widow, five sons, three daughters, four brothers and three sisters. Two of the children still reside at the farm home near here.

HENRY A FRIESEN

Funeral services for Henry A. Friesen were conducted at the Bethel Mennonite church, Mt. Lake, Minn., Sunday, June 24, Rev. Albert Gaeddert officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Lake cemetery.

Mr. Friesen was born to Klaus and Susanna (Klippenstein) Friesen in Henderson, Neb., on Feb. 25, 1904. In 1909 his parents moved to Litchfield, Neb., and lived there for seven years, after which they moved to O'Neall [sic O'Neill], Neb., where they continued to make their home until his father passed away.

At that time they moved to Henderson, Neb., where he and his older sisters had the responsibility of helping his mother support and raise the rest of the family.

He was baptized on May 24, 1926, and became a member of the Bethesda Mennonite church. In 1928 the Mennonite church in Madrid, Neb., was organized and he remained a member there until his death.

On Jan. 17, 1926, Mr. Friesen and Elizabeth Janzen were united in marriage at the home of her parents in Henderson. After their marriage they made their home seven miles west of Henderson until 1930 when they moved to Elsie, Neb. Here they lived eight years and moved north of Madrid.

In 1943 they sold out and moved to Salem, Calif., where they made their home on a grape ranch for three and one-half years.

They bought a farm near Mt. Lake where they were engaged in farming until 1952. From that year they started following the wheat harvest each summer, making their winter home at the farm residence.

Mr. Friesen suffered a heart attack in December of 1961 which was nearly fatal. Since they were unable to sell the equipment they left for the harvest on May 21 of this year. On June 12 he had another heart attack from which he recovered.

On the morning of June 19 they left Pratt, Kan., en route to Scott City, Kan. while still on the way, Mr. Friesen suffered a fatal attack. He passed away the morning of Wednesday, June 20.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Elizabeth, and nine children, six sons and three daughters. They are: Eldora, Mrs. Floyd Zielke, Darleen, Mrs. Leonard Tapp, and Erland, all of Whittier, Calif.; Lorrin of Dayton, Ohio; Kenneth of Mankato, Minn., and Eugene, Gerald, and Joan Kay, of Mt. Lake. One son, Donald, preceded him in death.

There are twelve grandchildren, one deceased. Others who mourn his death are four brothers: John of Geneva, Neb., Klaus [sic Klaas] of Lushton, Neb., Frank of Falls City, Neb., and Abe of Grant, Neb.; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Siebert of Henderson, Neb., Mrs. Abe Siebert of Orienta, Okla., and Mrs. Oliver Pankratz of Henderson, Neb.
