Leader in Ontario M. B. Conference Dies
Kitchener, Ont. — George Friesen, business manager of the Bethesda Mental Hospital in Vineland, Ontario, passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, after a brief illness. For 12 years he had served the 85-bed hospital which is owned and operated by the Canadian Mennonite Brethren Conference.
Mr. Friesen had not been well for quite some time, but it was only in recent months that his condition worsened and was diagnosed as schlerosis [sic] of the liver. The funeral service was held in the Vineland Mennonite Brethren Church on Dec. 20.
Mr. Friesen had served the Canadian conference in various ways. He was a member of the Canadian Mennonite Relief and Immigration Council, served on the Non-Resistant Relief Organization of Ontario, and for many years had served as secretary of the Ontario Mennonite Brethren Conference.
