Birth date: 1890 Mar 3
text of obituary:
MRS. ANNA FRIESEN
Anna Dick Friesen, daughter of David and Susanna Dick, was born on March 3, 1890 in Halbstadt, Ukraine, Russia. She attended a girls' school in her homeland.
She was baptized in 1911 in Halbstadt by Rev. Bernhard Epp.
She was united in marriage to Peter Johann Friesen on May 15, 1927. They had one adopted daughter who passed away when she was nine years old.
In the 1940's her husband was taken from the home and sent into Siberia. She never heard from him after that day. During the years of World War II, she with many others were driven from their homes and wandered from place to place. In 1952 arrangements were made so that she could come to the United States. She had lived in Hillsboro, Kan. since her coming.
She became a member of the First Mennonite church of Hillsboro in January of 1953 and was a member of this church at the time of her passing.
She wanted to become a citizen of the United States and after much work and help from others, she received her citizenship papers in 1958.
She had been in relatively good health. The last several weeks she had the flu, but was up and around the day before her passing. After returning home from town she told others in the apartment she was very tired. Later they heard her groaning in pain and called a doctor but before she could be taken to the hospital she was called to her reward.
She always kept very much to herself, but did express words of appreciation to others who helped her in town, in the church and with her concerns and problems. She was alone in the world and in many ways felt a stranger here. Now the trials of life for her are over, and she has moved into the place which God has prepared for her to be reunited with those that she had lost a while.
