MRS. A. J. FRIESEN

Anna Friesen was born at Jansen, Neb. to Abraham B. and Katherine Friesen on April 24, 1880. In this locality she grew to womanhood. In her youth she realized her need of a Savior in Jesus Christ. On June 10, 1900 she was baptized upon her confession of faith and admitted into the fellowship of the Kleingemeinde Mennonite Church of Jansen. In 1943 she joined the Emmanuel church of rural Meade, Kan., of which she remained a faithful member to the end.

On Feb. 10, 1901, she was joined in matrimony to Cornelius J. Friesen, and assumed the responsibility of motherhood of his three children, two sons and a daughter. One son, C. M Friesen, and the daughter, Mrs. John J. Reimer, have passed away. To this union were born a son and two daughters, of whom the son passed away in infancy.

In 1909 the family home was moved to Meade, Kan. In November of 1938 her husband passed away. On March 21, 1947 she was married to Abraham J. Friesen.

Throughout her life mother enjoyed comparatively good health, but on Sept. 9 of 1962 she had the misfortune of breaking her hip as she fell. Even in such experience she remained resolute in her faith toward God. Her faith was simple but practical. She greatly cherished the fact that several of her grandsons were engaged din the gospel ministry and christian service.

Surgery soon after her hip fracture relieved her greatly of physical suffering. On Oct. 13 she suffered a stroke, the effects of which she never overcame and remained speechless. She calmly answered her last call on Nov. 12 at about four p.m. to go to her Lord whom she trusted in life. She reached the age of 82 years, six months and 18 days.

In her passing she leaves her aged husband, A. J. Friesen; a son P. J. Friesen of Dinuba, Calif.; and two daughters, Katie, Mrs. P. A. Classen of Dinuba, and Anna, Mrs. John E. Loewen of Meade, with their respective life partners, five step-sons, Andy Friesen of San Bernardino, Calif., Dan of San Jose, Calif., Bill of Houston, Texas, Lee of Lufkin, Texas, and Joe of Meade; two step-daughters, Kate, Mrs. Jake A. Classen of Dallas, Ore. and Agnes, Mrs. Henry Wichert of San Jose, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. D. F. Thiessen and Mrs. C. M. Friesen, both of Burlington, Colo., 27 grandchildren, many great- and great-great-grandchildren, and relatives and friends. — The Family.
