Mrs. John F. Friesen

Aganetha Ediger Friesen, daughter of D. D. and Helen Thiessen Ediger, was born on April 11, 1884, near Buhler, Kan. where she spent her childhood days and attended school. As a teen-age girl she discovered her lost condition and accepted her Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. On May 24, 1900, she was baptized upon her confession of faith and united with the Mennonite Brethren Church.

On Sept. 11, 1903, she was united in holy matrimony to John F. Friesen. This union, which lasted 60 years and six days, was blessed with 11 children. Four grandchildren preceded her in death.

Our parents made their first home on a farm in Harvey County, Kansas. A few years later they homesteaded at Hooker, Okla. After five years they moved back to Kansas. In 1920 we moved to a farm two miles north of Corn, Okla. After many years of toil and labor on this farm, our parents moved to the little town of Corn. The last three years they have enjoyed the fine care of the Mennonite Brethren Home for the Aged.

Our mother was a Godly mother who spent much time in prayer for her 11 children.

One of the great joys for us was the fact that our parents could commemorate their silver, golden, and diamond wedding anniversaries. They served as custodians of the Corn M. B. Church for 11 years.

Our mother enjoyed comparatively good health most of her days. However, in the last years she had several attacks and often spoke to us about her entering into the great beyond to meet her Savior. This hour came Tuesday evening, Sept. 17, 1963. She reached the age of 79 years, five months and 26 days.

Those who remain to sorrow over her departure are her husband, John F. Friesen of Corn; nine daughters, Emma, Mrs. Henry Wiebe of Corn, Selma, Mrs. Clifford Holm [sic Holms] of Newton, Kan., Helen, Mrs. Ed Hinz of Orland, Calif., Elizabeth, Mrs. Irvin Schapansky, of Orosi, Calif., Frieda, Mrs. Henry Regier of Corn, Frieda, Mrs. Henry Regier of Corn, Bertha, Mrs. Ted Schmidt of Reedley, Calif., Martha, Mrs. Wesley Kroeder of ElReno, Okla., Mandy, Mrs. Albert Hoock of Colony, Okla., Ruby, Mrs. Vernon Penner of Fresno, Calif.; two sons, Herman Friesen of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Dan Friesen of Reedley, Calif.; 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John Franz of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, John and Henry Ediger of Buhler, Kan.; also her sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, many nephews and nieces. — The Family.
