13-YEAR-OLD KANSAS YOUTH KILLED WHEN CAR TURNS OVER

Cimarron, Kansas. — Funeral services were held at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite here for 13-year-old Robert Lee Fricke, son of Mrs. Katherine Fricke who was killed in a car accident near the Fricke home Oct 28.

The youth had taken the family car to look after some cattle several miles from home, and on the return trip the car overturned in a ditch. He was found pinned under the machine with his head in the water.

Besides his mother, he is survived by eight sisters and two brothers.

ROBERT LEE FRICKE

Robert Lee, son of Samuel and Katherine Fricke, was born Nov. 17, 1937, near Cimarron, Kansas, and died at the early age of 13 years, 11 months and 11 days.

In the spring of 1944 he with his parents moved to Gray county, Kansas, settling on a farm neat Cimarron. He received his education in the Cimarron school.

Robert Lee felt the need of a Saviour and upon his confession of faith and remission of sins, he was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on Jan. 21, 1951. At this time he expressed the thought that he was preparing to meet his Daddy in heaven.

He enjoyed good health and was a faithful worker, shouldering his responsibilities of the home work. His child-like attitude was very evident, especially the last few weeks. He showed much interest in and love for his nephews and nieces, being very generous and willing to share with others. His friendly nature made him precious to us.

After attending Sunday school and church services as usual on Sunday morning, he had dinner and spent the afternoon with Vernon Siemens, a close friend. Returning home toward evening and taking the car to look after some cattle a few miles from home, on the way home he hit a slippery spot in the road, causing the car to turn over and pinning the youthful body underneath. When discovered a short time later it was found that Robert Lee had been summoned to his heavenly Home. We grieve over the painful way of death, but feel comforted to know that he is safe in the arms of Jesus.

He leaves to mourn his early and sudden departure his deeply bereaved mother, eight sisters and two brothers: Annabel (Mrs. Henry Smith) of Fairview, Okla. Ruby (Mrs. Cecil Unruh) of Copeland, Gertrude (Mrs. Leslie Unruh) of Copeland, Ruth (Mrs. Orville Friesen) of Conway, Mary (Mrs. George Friesen) of Windom, Johanna, Helen, Clarabelle, Samuel Jr., and Obed Maynard of the home; grandfather, grandmother, four nieces and five nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Father preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1947. — The Family.
