text of obituary:
SHELDON JOHN FREY
Shelden [sic Sheldon] John Frey, the son of John W. and Mae Banman Frey, was born at Goessel, Kansas on April 28, 1945. He departed this life on Feb. 14, 1960. He attained the age of 14 years, nine and one-half months.
Shelden [sic Sheldon] was a viction [sic] of cerebral palsy from his birth. Doctors early informed his parents that there was no chance of a normal life for him. His life was that of an invalid until death. He needed the constant loving care given an infant through these years.
Though Sheldon could not go to school or church, and life for him was confined to his family, he developed his own ways of making himself known to those around him. He responded with happiness to visits to the homes of his grandparents. His response to music was one of joy. The loving care of his devoted parents satisfied his needs.
He is survived by his parents; two sisters, Bonnie and Jennie; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. J. J. Klassen of Goessel; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Banman, Rt. 2, Canton.
“He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom” (Is. 40:11).
Funeral services were conducted at the Tabor Mennonite church, rural Newton, on Feb. 17, at 2:00 p.m. Burial was made in the Tabor church cemetery.
