● John W. Frey, 84, of Goessel, a retired farmer, died Feb. 28 at Halstead Hospital. Services were held at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Goessel. Survivors include his wife, Mae; two daughters, Bonnie Gleason of rural Newton and Jenny D. Walker of Lawrence; three sisters, Teresa Schmidt of Goessel, Dorothy Schmidt of North Newton and Ruth Esau of Modesto, Calif.; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by a son Sheldon John.
