text of obituary:

Susie Franz.

Susie Franz, daughter of Leonard and Eva Franz, was born near Parker, S. Dak., March 8, 1877. Not being a strong child, she never was able in later life to do heavy work, yet in spite of this condition she had a cheerful disposition and was willing to do her part wherever help was needed and in demand.

On Sept. 13, 1896, she was baptized upon her confession of faith by the Elder Joseph Kaufman and received as a member of the then Salem Mennonite church near Freeman, S. Dak.

The family came to the state of Washington in 1902 and upon the organization of the Salem Mennonite church at Ruff in 1910 she became one of its charter members. In 1913 her letter was transferred to the Menno church. Upon the death of her mother she took care of her father and kept house for him until his passing in 1931.

In February 1932, due to failing health and need of constant care she was taken to the Deaconess Hospital at Salem, Oregon. Here, following a second stroke of paralysis, she passed away on Oct. 4, at an age of 60 years, 6 months and 26 days. She leaves to mourn her passing, 5 brothers and 1 sister, with a host of relatives and friends. Throughout life she remained firm in her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Funeral services were conducted from the Menno Mennonite church Thursday, Oct. 7. Interment in the cemetery near the church. Her pastor Rev. M. J. Galle officiating.
