SARA SIEMENS FRANZ

Mrs. Sara Siemens Franz, daughter of John P. and Helen Siemens, was born Nov. 12, 1906, near Buhler, Kan. She grew to womanhood on the original Siemens family farm five miles southeast of Buhler. She attended the Lakeside Grade School and Buhler High School, from which she graduated in 1927.

On May 20, 1923, she was baptized by Rev. P. R. Voth and admitted into the fellowship of the Buhler Mennonite Church.

On April 29, 1928, she was united in marriage with John J. Franz of Buhler. To them were born two sons, Leroy Kenneth of Buhler and Delton Willis of Chicago, and a daughter, Mrs. Eldine Harder of Newton, Kan.

On Jan. 10, 1963, a medical examination revealed a malignancy which was later followed by three major surgeries. Though she was ever aware that there was no hope of recovery, she never faltered or gave way to despair. She died Feb. 16, 1967, having attained the age of 60 years, three months and three days.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband; her tow sons and one daughter, two brothers, Jacob H. and Herman Siemens of Buhler; five grandchildren and her father, John P. Siemens.
