— Herbert P. Franz, 76, of Goessel, a retired music teacher and postmaster, died on Jan. 12 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for Jan. 15 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel, with Kenneth and Anne Rupp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A graduate of Bethel College, North Newton, and Princeton (N.J.) University, Franz taught music at Cedar Point and Goessel schools and served as a postmaster 13 years. Survivors include his wife, the former Elda Schmidt Flaming, two daughters, Dorlee Keeny of Wichita and Michelle of the home; one step-son, Royce Flaming of near Newton, two step-daughters, Linette Koehn of Greensburg and Janine Peters of near Hillsboro; one sister, Anna Franz of Goessel; and eight grandchildren. Preceding him in death was one brother, Arnold.
