MRS. ESTHER M. FRANTZ

Esther Magdalene Frantz daughter of Rev. H. R. and Martha Moser Voth, was born in Dalton, Ohio on Feb. 19, 1899. She passed away March 17, 1966, having reached the age of 67 years and one month.

Her education was received in the elementary school in Newton, Kan.; two years in Meno, Okla. Bible Academy and one year in the Goltry, Okla. high school. From there she came to Bethel College where she attended for two years. Here at Bethel she met her future husband, P. E. Frantz. They were married in Goltry, Okla. on July 30, 1922.

She shared in the ministry of her husband in Quakertown, Pa. for three years; in the Hebron church at Buhler, Kan. for 10 years; the Geary, Okla. Mennonite church for five years, and the Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church of Wichita, Kan. for four years.

They retired to Newton, Kan. in 1948. Here they established their membership in the Bethel College Mennonite Church. Esther was actively interested in Sunday school and church committee work and gave unstintingly of herself to all these activities. Ill health prevented her participation during these latter years, but her interest never waned.

She had great courage which helped her live with her physical difficulties, and she was an inspiration to all who knew her. As wife, mother and sister, her family will remember with love and affection the big heart she had that encompassed all who were of personal concern to her.

She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene. She is survived by her husband, Rev. P. E. Frantz; a son Vernon; a daughter Linda (Mrs. Cliff Shipley); and five grandchildren. Other survivors include her step-mother, Mrs. H. R. Voth of Wichita; five sisters, Mrs. Martha Dyck of Newton, Edna Voth, Mrs. Wanda Goertz, and Mrs. Norma Mingenback, all of Wichita, and Mrs. Hilma Biesterfeld of Tucson, Ariz.; and three brothers, Albert of Clarinda, Iowa, Herman of Penton [sic Renton], Wash. and Waldo, of Wichita, Kan.
