HENRY W. FRANSEN
Henry W. Fransen, Sr., son of P. F. and Anna (Warkentin) Fransen, was born Jan. 9, 1891 at Burrton, Kan. After a lingering illness he passed away quietly in his home near Clinton, Okla. on Oct. 30, 1962.
On Sept. 10, 1911, he was baptized by Elder John Flaming and united with the Bergthal Mennonite Church. He was an active church leader as long as his health permitted.
He came with his parents to Oklahoma at an early age where they homesteaded at farm near Corn. In this community he received his grade school education. He also attended Southwestern Normal at Weatherford.
On Nov. 19, 1911, he was united in marriage to Christena Merk.
He enjoyed life as a farmer, from five years of pioneering in Montana to modern day farming in Clinton, Okla.
His health began to fail about 12 years ago, growing steadily worse, becoming critical in early March. He suffered much but patiently. Dad spent much time in prayer, his major concern being the salvation of souls, especially that his entire family should meet him in Glory.
In addition to three daughters and five sons, survivors include four sisters, Mrs. John Isaak of Weatherford, Mrs. Elbert Schmidt of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Alvin H. Hinz, Liberal, Kan., and Mrs. Abe DeFehr of Dellingham [sic Bellingham], Wash.; four brothers, P. A. Fransen, John W. Fransen, and Isaac Fransen, all of Clinton, and David Fransen of Wichita, Kan.
