Founder of Ministry To Migrants Dies

Archbold, Ohio. — Funeral services for Rev. William S. Flory, 59, founder of a ministry to migrant laborers in this area, were held at the Central Mennonite Church on April 10.

Death came on April 7 at the home of a son, Harold Flory, in Stryker. Rev. Flory had suffered a heart attack about a year ago but had resumed his work as pastor of the Good Shepherd Mennonite Church and missionary for the Fulton County Migrant Assn.

Rev. Flory and wife Priscilla began their work among migrants of this area in the early 1940s. They learned Spanish in order to carry on this ministry. In the early 1950s they founded the Good Shepherd Mennonite Church in an abandoned school house. Since then a new church has been built, and Rev. Flory lived near the church in a house trailer. His wife died in 1959.

On Feb. 21 of this year Rev. Flory was honored as this community's Outstanding Citizen for 1962.
