Herald Publishing Co. Board Member Dies

200ox

Moundridge, Kan. — E. E. Flickner, 74, prominent Moundridge retired farmer and long-time board member of the Herald Publishing Company, Newton, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at the Memorial Home for the Aged here.

Although he had not been well since suffering a light stroke about a year ago, Mr. Flickner was still active and had been in Moundridge on Monday. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Born here on Jan. 5, 1893, he taught school before taking up farming near Moundridge. After retiring from the farm he served as the first administrator of the Memorial Home, from 1958 to 1963, and also taught school again for several years.

He had served on the board of the Herald Publishing Company, publisher of the Mennonite Weekly Review, for more than 35 years. For much of that time he was treasurer, a position he still held at the time of his death.

Survivors include his widow, the former Alma Wedel; three sons, Eldon, Arlo and Galen, all of the Moundridge vicinity; two daughters, Mrs. LaRita Seewald of Moundridge and Mrs. Delma Powers of Anchorage, Alaska; and 12 grandchildren.

Mr. Flickner was a member of the Eden Mennonite Church, where the funeral will be conducted at 10 a. m. Friday, with Dr. H. A. Fast and Rev. Wendell Rempel officiating.
