• Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl Church for Dee Lane Flaming, three-week-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore B. Flaming of rural Hillsboro. Rev. Aaron Epp, the pastor, officiated. The little girl died Sunday at Bethel Deaconess Hospital, where she had been a patient since Nov. 12. Surviving in addition to the parents are one sister and two brothers, all of the home, and the grandparents, Mrs. Anna Flaming of Goessel and Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Schmidt of rural Hillsboro.

DEE LANE FLAMING

Dee Lane Flaming was born to our family on Oct. 30, 1964. What a delight it was to hear the doctor tell us we were blessed with a baby girl. Many friends and relatives rejoiced with us and it was an experience we shall always treasure. We have gained a deeper appreciation for our home and family through her.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Rom. 8:28). To those who love God, things do not just happen. So it seems that God, lovingly, planned to send us a foretaste of heaven by giving us Dee Lane for a little while — just long enough that she might help make the road to heaven easier for us to follow.

Although we were not granted the privilege of ever having Dee Lane in our home, we tried to bring home to her hospital room. It was discovered that Dee Lane had a virus infection which led to pneumonia, plus a congenital heart defect.

“The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:21b) We could hardly know Lee Lane (sic Dee Lane) would be ours for such a short time. Her spirit departed her body to be safe in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Nov. 22, 1964 at 11:20 a.m. It is wonderful to have the hope of seeing our darling again some day in the heavenly home. Until then, we will cherish her memory — Ted and Frieda Flaming, Dwight, Clyde and Doreen; Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Schmidt and Mrs. John J. Flaming.
