Anna Flaming, geborne Wolf, wurde geboren den 4. Juli, 1853 im Dorfe Ladekop, West Preußen. Mit ihren Eltern ausgewandert nach Rußland im Jahre 1856. Als sie 6 Wochen in Rußland waren starb die Mutter. Heinrich Franzen, Steinbach, nahmen sie dann als Tochter an. Im Jahre 1879 wanderte sie mit ihren Eltern aus nach Amerika. Am 5. August, 1880 wurde sie von Aelt. Jakob Buller auf das Bekenntnis ihres Glaubens getauft and als Glied in die Alexanderwohl Gemeinde aufgenommen. Am 8. Okt. 1885 trat sie zum ersten Mal in die Ehe mit Johann Voth, Emmenthal. Damit übernahm sie Mutterstelle über 6 Kinder, wovon 4 gestorben, Großkinder 27, wovon 6 gestorben, Urgroßkinder 94 wovon 15 gestorben und Ururgroßkinder 38 wovon 2 gestorben sind. Kinder wurden 4 geboren, wovon 2 schon in früher Jugend starben, 11 Großkinder, von welchen 2 gestorben. Am 8. Nov. 1904 starb ihr erster Mann. In dieser Ehe gelebt 19 Jahre und 1 Monat. Am 27. Juni 1915 trat sie mit Johann P. Flaming zum zweiten Mal in die Ehe. Damit übernahm sie Mutterstelle über 6 Kinder, 38 Großkinder, wovon 7 gestorben und 27 Urgroßkinder, wovon 3 gestorben. In dieser Ehe gelebt 18 Jahre, 7 Monate und 16 Tage. Im Sept. Monat fing sie an über Schmerzen zu klagen, konnte jedoch noch immer ihre Hausarbeit verrichten. Ihr Zustand verschlimmerte sich jedoch immer mehr, so daß wir sie am 31. Jan. ins Bethesda Hospital bringen mußten. Am 2. Feb. 11:45 mittags durfte sie eingehen in die Stadt der goldnen Gassen, wo sie jetzt schaut, was sie hier geglaubt. Sie hat ihr Leben gebracht auf 80 Jahre, 6 Monate und 28 Tage. Es trauern um sie, außer dem Gatten und den Kindern, eine Schwester und viele Verwandte und Freunde. – Die Begräbnisfeier wurde am 7. Feb. abgehalten. Rev. C. C. Wedel sprach über 1. Chronika 29, 15, Rev. P. H. Unruh über Psl. 126 und Rev. P. P. Buller in englisch über John. 14, 8.9. Zwei Gruppen Sänger lieferten Gesang.

— Funeral services for Mrs. John Flaming, one of the pioneer residents of the Goessel community, are being held at the Alexanderwohl church this afternoon. Mrs. Flaming had suffered from the infirmities of old age for a considerable period of time, and her death was not entirely unexpected. She is survived by her aged husband, who also is in ill health.

Anna Flaming, Nee Wolf

My dear wife and mother Anna, nee Wolf, was born on July 4, 1853, in the village of Ladekopp, West Prussia. In 1856 she went with her parents to Russia, where her mother died after they had been there six weeks. Henry Franz of Steinbach adopted her as daughter and in 1879 she came to America with her parents. She was baptized on Aug. 5, 1880, upon the confession of her faith, by the Elder Jacob Buller and was received into membership of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.

She was married to John Voth of Emmenthal on October 8, 1885. With this marriage she took the place of a mother over six children of which four have died. In time she also became grandmother over 27 grandchildren, of which six have died; great-grandmother over 94 children, of which 15 have died; and great-great-grandmother over 38 children.

She became the mother of four children, of which two have died.

Her first husband John Voth died on November 8, 1904, she having lived with him for 19 years and one month. On June 27, 1915, she was married to me, John P. Flaming. With this marriage she took the place of mother over six children, grandmother over 38 grandchildren, of which 7 have died, and 27 great-grandchildren, of which 3 have died. We have lived in this marriage 18 years, 7 months, and 16 days.

In September of 1933 she began to feel pain, but she still could do her housework. Her condition became more and more alarming and on January 31 she was brought to the Bethesda Hospital, where she was called to her heavenly home on February 2, at 11:45 P.M. She reached the age of 80 years, 6 months and 28 days. Now she is a home, free from the cares and troubles of this life. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, children and children’s children and one sister.
