ABRAHAM P. FAST

Abraham P. Fast, son of Peter P. and Katharina Duerksen Fast, was born near Marion, S. D. on Oct. 12, 1889. In 1900 he moved with his parents to the Mt. Lake, Minn. community.

In 1910 he was baptized by Elder Gerhard Neufeld and accepted into the First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. In 1913 he was married to Agatha Neufeld. In 1916, with their two children, they moved to a farm northwest of Wolf Point, Mont. In 1928 they were received into the Lustre Bethel Church by Rev. John C. Kaufman of Freeman, S. D. In 1936 they moved back to Minnesota and since 1940 have lived in Delft.

He was the father of 15 children of which one daughter, Alma, preceded him in infancy on July 28, 1918. There are nine sons and five daughters.

Our husband and father lived 76 years, eight months and 20 days. His days were filled with many hardships, especially during the last 30 years which were marked by loss of material possessions and physical suffering.

Nevertheless, there were untold joyous days as well: the silver wedding in 1938, a family reunion in July 1960, the golden wedding in 1963. He was happy to see half of his family in Christian service and the ministry.

As the shadows began to lengthen, he made it unmistakably clear that the Lord had graciously forgiven him and in conversation with friends and family expressed his sincere love and deep gratitude. — The Family.
