PETER P. FAST

Peter P. Fast, the only child of Peter and Anna Tieszen Fast, was born in Paulsheim, South Russia on March 10, 1868, and went to be with his Lord in the early morning on March 31, 1958, at the Eventide home in Mt. Lake, Minn., reaching the age of 90 years and 21 days.

In the year 1874 he, with his parents, emigrated to America, settling near Marion, So. Dak. At the age of 19 years he was baptized by Elder Aaron Wall and received into the Bethesda Church.

On Jan. 3,1889, he was united in marriage with Catherine Duerksen. This union was blessed with 15 children, of whom five died in infancy.

In 1900 the family moved to a farm near Mt. Lake, Minn., where they lived until 1918, when they moved to Dalmeny, Sask. While living in Saskatchewan, through the effort of Elder Peter Schultz, our parents came to a full understanding of personal salvation and affiliated with the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1922 they moved back to Mt. Lake, Minn. On Feb. 26, 1927, mother died. On April 7, 1929 father was married to Mrs. John Wannow, and affiliated with the Gospel Mennonite Church, Mt. Lake, of which he remained a member until his death.

Mourning his departure are his wife; 10 children, Abe of Delft, Minn., Peter of Wolf Point, Mont., Katherina, Mrs. John A. Stoesz, and Elizabeth, Mrs. Jacob P. Klassen, both of Mt. Lake, Minn., Marie, Mrs. A. A. Willems of St. Catherines, Ontario, Jacob of Dallas, Oregon, Henry of Marion, So. Dak., Anna, Mrs. George Deckert of Glendive, Mont., Frank of Jackson, Minn., George of Minneapolis, Minn.; 11 step-children, 46 grandchildren and 77 great-grandchildren.

The grace of God is recognized in the fact that, of the 56 children and grandchildren, 20 are in full time Christian service. Of these, 13 are missionaries. — The Bereaved Family.
