He received his education in the Gnadenfeld School near Goessel, which later became Gordon School.
He was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour May 31, 1903 by Elder Peter Balzer and received as a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. Following his marriage, he transferred his church membership to the Tabor Church. On June 10, 1920, when the Goessel Mennonite Church was organized he transferred his membership to the Goessel Church, being one of the charter members. he remained a faithful member until his death.
Our parents had the privilege of celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and on and on April 15, 1960, their golden wedding anniversary.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. As children we are thankful for the Christian training we received in our parents home. We will remember father as one who was interested in spiritual things. He was faithful in studying the Sunday school lessons and served as a teacher in Sunday school. Much time was spent in listening to sermons and religious music on the radio. Handel's "Messiah" was among his favorites. The welfare of his wife, children and grandchildren was his loving concern. Of particular enjoyment to him were the trips to visit the children.
His memory will be cherished by his wife Lena; the children, Mrs. Linda Frey of rural Newton, Anton and wife Betty of rural Newton, Arnold and wife Elsie of Hemet, Calif., Adina and husband Roy Schmidt of rural Newton, Irvin and wife Alice of Newton, Elda of the home, Orlando and wife Maxine of rural Moundridge, Ruth and husband, Howard Reather, Goldsboro, N. C.; one brother, I. B. Fast; a sister, Mrs. Anna Voth; 25 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friend.
