BERNARD B. FAST
Bernard B. Fast of Saskatoon departed to be with the Lord Jesus on November 16. He was born to Bernard B. and Susanna (Mandtler) Fast on November 26, 1899 at Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Two years later the family moved to Canada and homesteaded close to Dalmeny, Sask. He received his elementary education in the Mountain Lake School. At the age of 16 he accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour and Lord, was baptized by Rev. Jacob Lepp, and received into the Dalmeny Mennonite Brethren Church. He was married to Lena Quiring on April 2, 1922. He worked the family farm with his brother Henry for four years, and then started his own farm within a mile of the homestead. He also did some carpentry work in Dalmeny and again when they moved to Saskatoon in 1968. In Saskatoon they became members of the Central Mennonite Brethren Church. The family remembers him as a good man, a loving husband and father, and one who was respected and appreciated by the people of his community. He participated in various church offices, enjoyed singing, and showed his devotional life with It well-worn Bible,
He is survived by his wife Lena; four children Rosella and T. George Clark of North Battleford, Sask., Menno and Edith Fast of Victoria, Ruth of Saskatoon, and Sophie and S. Wayne Cross of Meadow Lake, Sask. (Luella Mabel and Reuben predeceased their father); six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers.
The funeral service, at the Central Mennonite Brethren Church on November 20, was conducted by pastors Rueben M. Baerg and Waldo Pauls.
