NEWTON & VICINITY

Funeral services for Elvera R. (Unruh) Farmer, 65, of North Newton, were held May 18 at Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren, Newton. Loyal Martin and Greg Schmidt officiated. Burial was in Restlawn Gardens of Memory, rural Newton. She died May 14 at Newton Medical Center. She was a former secretary at the Perryton, Texas, sheriff department and a former checking clerk for Midland National Bank, Newton. She also was a retired nursing home administrator and owner of Kinder Care Nursing Home in Kansas City. Survivors include one daughter, Coleen Teter of Garnett; her father, Herbert Unruh of North Newton; one brother, Kenneth Unruh of St. Bonifacius, Minn.; one sister, Shirley Hiebert of Olathe; and two grandchildren.
