— Funeral services for Elmer Ewy, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ewy of Kingman, Kansas, who was fatally injured in a truck-auto collision, were held at the Bethesda Mennonite church southeast of Kingman on Sunday, September 4. The funeral was one of the largest ever held at the Bethesda church. The young man died two days after the accident happened, without regaining consciousness.

ELMER CARL EWY was born Sept. 19, 1907, in Harvey Co., Kansas and departed this life Sept. 2nd, 1938 at the age of 30 years, 11 months and 14 days. — He lived with his parents 5 miles south of Moundridge, Kansas, until 15 years old, graduated from Belmont High school, and attended Bible School at John Brown College in Siloan[sic Siloam] Springs, Ark.

Elmer was baptized April 11, 1926. While a child he was always interested in church and Christian Endeavor work. He not only attended church all his life but was an active worker. He taught Sunday School classes willingly, and was not ashamed but glad to confess publicly, Jesus as his personal Savior.

July 18, 1934, he was united in marriage with Tillie Albright. To this happy union two children were born. Virgil Ray, three years, and Kerren Marlane three months old. — The family had been residing at their home in Kingman, Kansas, at the time of his fatal accident.

He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife and his two small children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ewy; and his sister, Mrs. Alvin Albright, four brothers, Melvin, Nolan, Arlo and Clemens; his wife’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Albright; 11 sisters and brothers-in-law; 10 nephews and nieces; his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kaufman; uncles; aunts; cousins; and many other relatives and friends, who loved him dearly.
