MRS. SARAH EWERT

Sarah (Funk, Frantz) Ewert, daughter of Peter and Anna (Unruh) Funk, was born in Hillsboro, Kan. on Jan. 4, 1884. She quietly fell asleep in Jesus on Nov. 9, 1968, reaching the age of 84 years 10 months and five days.

Mother spent her early days in Hillsboro, where she received her elementary education. At the age of 14 she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, and at the age of 16 followed the Lord in baptism and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church, of which she remained a faithful member until her death.

In January 1905 she was joined in holy matrimony with Peter P. Frantz in Hillsboro. God blessed this union with four children, on whom one son Ruben preceded her in death.

Our parents joined the stalwart pioneers and settled on a farm in Beaver County, Okla. They faced the pioneer life with courage and were deeply dedicated to train their family in the ways of the Lord. Mother enjoyed entertaining and our home was always open for visitors. Her cheerful disposition and love for others made it possible for her to find many opportunities to help others in need.

Regular church activities were a natural part of our family life even after father passed away in March of 1936. She then remained on the farm with her daughter Sophia for several years. Mother found much joy in the fellowship of the Missionary Sewing Circle.

On Sept. 24, 1944 she was married to William D. Ewert at Okeene, Okla. They lived at Clinton, Okla. for three years, moving to Enid in August 1947. They shared 21 happy years together, until the Lord suddenly took Father Ewert to his heavenly home on Feb. 27, 1965.

Her life alone was soon complicated by a stroke which made it necessary to seek nursing care. Through the kind help of Mrs. Coulter and the Greenbrier Rest Home, she cheerfully made the adjustment but deeply longed to go home to be with the Lord. Psalm 23 was her comfort and strength and we rejoice with her that she could so cheerfully and fearlessly go to be with her Savior.

She leaves to mourn her departure two daughters, (Mabel) Mrs. D. L. Regier and Mrs. Sophia Regier, both of Enid; one son, Roland of Perryton, Texas; by marriage one daughter (Lottie) Mrs. Ed Matz of Cordell, Okla. and one son Arthur Ewert of Elm Creek, Neb.; one son-in-law; two daughters-in-law; 20 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. — The Family.
