MRS. SUSANNA EWERT

Susanna Berg Ewert was born to Rev. Henry and Maria Deckert Berg on Dec. 14, 1884 near Marion, South Dakota and passed away in her home Nov. 4, 1962 at the age of 77 years, ten months, and 21 days.

On June 1, 1903 she was baptized upon her confession of faith in Jesus Christ and joined the Bethesda Mennonite Church. She later transferred her membership to the Bethel Mennonite Church of which she remained a faithful member.

She was a graduate of the Bethel Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Newton, Kansas and enjoyed helping others in her profession.

On Oct. 5, 1913 she was united in marriage to Peter S. Ewert. They lived a devoted life together for 49 years. To this union were born four children, Amanda (Mrs. David W. Nickel), Adolphine, Elmer and Roland.

In September 1955 suffered a stroke which left her an invalid for seven years. During her illness she remained cheerful and was an inspiration to her family, relatives and friends.

Her parents, four brothers, seven sisters and one sister-in-law preceded her in death. Surviving her are her husband, two daughters, two sons, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, four granddaughters, and one grandson, one sister, Mrs. Eva Engbrecht, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Katie Berg.

Funeral services were held on Nov. 8, 1962 at the Bethel Mennonite Church with Rev. Ralph Graber officiating. Music was provided by Arlyss Ortman, pianist, and a mixed quartet. Interment was made in the Rose-hill Cemetery, McCook County, Marion, S. D.
