— Funeral services were conducted at the Goertz Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Aug. 28 for Harold Ewert, 38, of Hutchinson, with Rev. Esko Loewen, officiating. A native of the Hillsboro community, Mr. Ewert died Aug. 25 at Hutchinson after a long illness. He is survived by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. D. C. Ewert of Hutchinson, and our sister, Lois, of the home.

HAROLD RAY EWERT

Our dear son, Harold Ray Ewert, was born May 4, 1920, at the Salem Hospital, Hillsboro, Kan.

In early childhood he showed love for the artistic and beautiful. It was this quality that brought enjoyment and pleasure into a life which otherwise experienced much suffering. Flowers especially were a source of great delight to him. His flower garden of this summer gives proof of this.

Photography became his hobby and profession, for thereby he could catch and keep the many beautiful things of this world. For three years he chose Florida for his home, for in that state of sunshine and beauty he hoped also to regain more physical strength.

However the most precious thing in his life was his reverence for God his creator. In his 15th year he made a public confession of Christ as his personal Savior. He was baptized by his father, who had charge of the Bethany Mennonite Church of Kingman, Kan. at that time. He lived a life of honesty, bravery and determination. When he realized God was going to take him away, he determined to prepare himself and let nothing come in his way.

Lovingly and gently God took him home on Aug. 25 at 9:30 a. m. The word “Home” which he audibly breathed, fills us with reverence and joy, for we know he reached his destination in heaven. He fought a good fight and has attained his reward. We hope to find as worthy an acceptance into that realm of love and beauty when our journey here on earth has come to a close.

He reached the age of 38 years, three months and 21 days. An infant brother preceded him June 16,1933, at the age of four and one-half months.

He leaves to mourn his early departure his sorrowing parents. Mr. and Mrs. David C. Ewert, and sister Lois Elaine of the home; his aged grandmother, Mrs. Jacob Goertz; two uncles, J. A. Ewert and B. A. Goertz; four aunts, Mrs. Jacob Gaede, Mrs. Will. Calam, Mrs. Harrison Ratzlaff, all of Hillsboro, Kan., and Mrs. Otto Pankratz of Pasadena, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.

Our consolation is that he is not dead; he lives and shall live forever and ever. — His Loving Parents and Sister.
