Eight-Year-Old Boy Dies in Home Fire

Buhler, Kan. — Funeral services were held at the Buhler Mennonite Church on Dec. 9 for eight-year-old Troy Esser, who died Dec. 6 when the family home near Burrton was destroyed by fire. Rev. Harold D. Thieszen officiated at the service.

It is believed a gas line under the house caused the fatal fire. Three other children jumped from a second story window to safety. Troy was led to a window by his brother, but for some reason did not jump.

The lad was in the second grade here and attended Sunday school at the Buhler Church.
